Most of us associate the smell of citronella essential oil with lazy summer nights in the garden. Citronella is a grass native to Sri Lanka where it is extensively cultivated in the country’s south. There are two types of citronella essential oil – Sri Lankan and Javan – and Tinderbox uses Sri Lankan citronella, which does not yield as much oil but has a fresher and less woody scent than its Javan cousin.

Aroma: Top Note.

Perfume: Slightly sweet, lemony. Grassy with woody notes.

Blends well with: geranium, lemon, bergamot, orange, cedarwood, pine, lavender, peppermint, petitgrain, sage.

Precautions: Non-toxic, non-irritant, however it could cause irritation in some individuals. Use well diluted. Considered safe to use during pregnancy.
